We used a very simplified palette (11 colors), which was new to me and quite challenging. We used 3 main hues, each with their light/shadow color, and 2 colors for highlight and outline.

There are two types of icons for the same item. The small icon that allows player to hover and choose, and the big icon that shows up as a more "HD" version of the small icon, alongside some description of the item.
The tiles can each be divided up into 16x16 pixels, and loopable. The glass panel is drawn in a way for Godot to automatically dissect the tiles.
